Rules of the game

Poker is a game where players bet on who has the best hand of cards. There are many different types of poker, but most follow these general rules:

Object of the game

To make the best hand of 5 cards to win the pot.

Cards

A deck of 52 cards divided into 4 suits (hearts, diamonds, spades, clubs).

Bets

Players place bets to show their confidence in their cards.

Deal

Each deal begins with the dealer dealing two cards face down to each player.

Flop

After all players have made their bets, three cards are dealt face down on the table, this is called the flop.

Turn

After all players have made their bets again, a fourth card is dealt face down on the table, this is called the turn.

River

After all players have made their bets again, a fifth card is dealt face down on the table, this is called the river.

Showdown

After all players have made their bets, they show their cards and the player with the best combination wins the pot.

Card combinations

Royal Flush

Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten of the same suit.

Straight Flush

Five cards in a row of the same suit.

Four of a Kind

Four cards of the same rank.

Full House

Three cards of the same rank and two cards of another rank.

Flush

Five cards of the same suit.

Straight

Five cards in a row of different suits.

Three of a Kind

AThree cards of the same rank.

Two Pair

Two pairs of cards of different ranks.

One Pair

Two cards of the same rank.

High Card

If the players do not have any combination, the one with the highest card wins.
